Jyotiraditya Scindia first became a Parliamentarian in 2002 when he won the by-election in Guna, Madhya Pradesh by a margin of over 4 lakh votes.
Mr. Scindia was re-elected as a Parliamentarian to Guna. During his term, he worked extensively on strengthening infrastructure, developing healthcare facilities and ensuring access to water in his constituency.
Mr. Scindia initiated Project Arrow in 500 post offices, transforming India Post into a responsive organization, and the project went on to win the PM’s award for the best public sector transformation project.
Jyotiraditya Scindia focussed on reducing the transaction costs and building a service-oriented environment for businesses. During his tenure, the ‘e-biz’ and ‘e-trade’ portals, and the Task Force to rebrand Indian tea were flagship projects of the Ministry.
Mr. Scindia successfully set up Smart Grid systems, reducing peak shortage and energy deficiency in the country to as low as 4.2% and 4.5% respectively, even achieving zero power shortage in some regions.
Mr. Scindia presented a Private Member’s Bill that proposed a mechanism to help eradicate malnutrition. He has also continually fervently brought Parliament’s attention to instances of farmer suicides, safety of women, welfare of minority groups & economic growth.
